Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) Uganda chapter has elected a new Country Director to represent Uganda at the regional Board of Directors. The election, which was presided over by the EAGC Executive Director, Mr. Gerald Masila, took place on Friday 16th November 2012 at the Metropole Hotel, Kampala. Two candidates, both members of EAGC, had been nominated for the position and Dr. Bernard Otim of Farmers Centre (U) Ltd., emerged overall winner.
Dr. Otim is CEO of Farmers Centre (U) Ltd., and a renown and respected businessman in Northern Uganda , where he supports over 10,000 small scale farmers by providing inputs and markets for produce.
A Veterinary doctor by profession, Dr. Otim also holds an MBA of Makerere University Business School and has a wealth of knowledge of the Uganda grain sector with over 10 years hands-on business experience.
In his role as Country Director, Dr, Otim will spearhead representation of the Uganda grain sector at regional and international level. He will, together with the EAGC Uganda Country team, be responsible for membership, communication, country programs, policy advocacy and the overall mandate of EAGC in Uganda.
Dr. Otim has been instrumental in key EAGC programs over the past years, he brings a wealth of experience in the grain sector and there is no doubt, he will lead the country mandate to successful new heights.
