The Agricultural Trade Policy Advocacy Forum for Eastern and Southern Africa (ATPAF – ESA) was established specifically to inform agricultural trade policy in the region. Two collaborative meetings organized by the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) and the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), brought together key players in the policy arena, that  included the UN World Food Program (WFP), the Common Market for Eastern & Southern Africa (COMESA), the Alliance for Commodity Trade in Eastern and Southern Africa (ACTESA), the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) institutions, Nile Basin Initiative (NBI), regional farmers’ organizations, academic, research institutions, private sector, governments and other regional organizations.
