Welcome to the August member updates.
This month, EAGC has made notable progress pursuant to its vision of being “the leading voice for the grain industry in Africa” through its four key functions; Structuring grain Trade Systems, provision of market information, trade policy and advocacy work as well as capacity building through the Grain Business Institute with the aim of promoting trade, more trade and better grain trade. This year, we are hosting the 8th Africa Grain Trade Summit that is scheduled for the 3rd to 5th October 2019, at the Sarova White sand’s Hotel in Mombasa.
Over 300 high-level grain value chain actors will convene at the summit to brainstorm on the direction that the grain sector should take towards the much-needed transformation of grain trade value chains. I, therefore, urge you to seize the golden opportunity and take part in the summit as a delegate, speaker, exhibitor or sponsor.
Having been at the forefront in the development of Hermetic Storage Technologies (HSTs) Standards in the East African Community to cushion our members from counterfeits and inferior hermetic storage products, I am happy to inform you that the standards have been gazetted, effective 9th August 2019.
