EAGC strengthens G Hubs to develop sustainable business models

Tegemeo Cereals Enterprise Limited, an EAGC Grain Trade Business Hub (G-Hub), officially launched its successful seed merchant business in Tharaka Nithi County. The Hub will offer farmers in Tharaka Nithi County and beyond, affordable access to quality green grams, sorghum, drought tolerant seeds as well as bio-fortified pearl millet, hence enhancing food security in the largely arid and semi-arid region.

EAGC has been on the frontline in supporting its G-Hubs to commercialize, and therefore shift from subsistence farming to sustainable business models.

The G-Hub enhances the participation of smallholder’s farmers in structured grain trading system, by bridging the current trade linkage gap that has disadvantaged smallholder farmers , and further enhance farmer’s access to agro-related services and markets through a backward linkage mechanism, and can also can access farm inputs.
