EAGC leads Nigeria’s Ministry of Agriculture in benchmarking on the role of private sector in strategic food reserve systems

EAGC held a meeting with a high-level delegation from Nigeria led by H.E Dr. Enerst A. Umakhihe the Permanent Secretary (PS), the Federal Ministry of Agric and Rural Development. The delegation was in the country on a study tour to benchmark on the existing public and private infrastructure and management models for Strategic Grain Reserves.

The delegation met EAGC as private sector stakeholders where discussions focused on agricultural sector policy reforms and the role of the private sector in strategic food reserve systems in East African countries, and to a greater extent on coordination, operation, and management of Strategic Food Reserves.

The study tour was supported by EAGC’s partner AGRA, through AGRA’s Hub for Agricultural Policy Action (HAPA), which is promoting the use of evidence based decisions to inform its policy implementation.
