EAGC seeks new grain market in Romania

EAGC held a partnership discussion meeting with Mr. Dragoș-Viorel-Radu Țigău, the Ambassador of Romania to Kenya, at the EAGC Regional Office.

The discussions centered on utilizing the existing grain trade opportunities between the private sector in Romania and that of the East and Southern Africa, where the Romania Association of Grain Farmers and Processors can directly supply grain to EAGC Members. From the discussions, EAGC will also support the association to facilitate a trade mission to Kenya and Tanzania in 2023.

Wheat and corn are Romania’s main grain crops and together account for about 85 percent of the total grain area in the country. Such imports in the country would largely boost the rising shortage of both maize and wheat in the country.

The meeting further explored opportunities for the private sector in Kenya to facilitate the capacity building of coffee and tea sector to meet the European Union standards.
