Small scale millers in off-grid areas set to benefit from new solar-powered grain mill

Small scale millers with no access to grid power are set to benefit from asolar powered grain mill –  the Agsol MicroMill. It is however not limited to solar power, it can also be powered from a grid, mini-grid, rechargeable batteries or from an electric motorbike.

The Mill can process a wide range of grains like maize,  sorghum and millet irrespective of their sizes, through a changeable screen of varying sizes that allows a desired degree of coarseness or fineness for the final product. The mill can therefore process both food and animal feed.

The Micro-Mill machine comes in different formats, either as the machine only, in an AC format,  with a rechargeable DC battery  or in a complete solar format. The Mill costs between $ 590 and $ 1,310 depending on the format purchased in.

EAGC will pilot the Mill as an additional solar-powered smart solution that can be incorporated in the Smart Markets to provide value addition, particularly for maize in the  eateries within the markets.
