Reducing cost of trade through trade facilitation

The Uganda country team paid a membership visit to HMH Rainbow, a Member the team is closely supporting to source, purchase and deliver quality grain through the EAGC trade facilitation platform – G Soko.  The country team has in the recent past successfully facilitated trade volumes of over 85MT of red sorghum between Kenya and Uganda valued at USD 37,990 in addition to the facilitation of local grain trade.

EAGC facilitates grain trade as one of the key Member service delivery pillars and urges Members to reach out to the Council for any grain farming, handling, storage or trade related services. EAGC has an outlined G Soko trade facilitation process that ensures cost effective and efficient trade in quality grain is carried out, as illustrated below.

The G-SOKO Trade Facilitation process:

EAGC therefore calls upon Members to engage with the EAGC G-Soko Trade Desk Office through gsoko@eagc.org or 0712 652 104 by sharing grain trade offers and enquiries which are consolidated and circulated to Members through the weekly G-Soko trade catalogue for a larger EAGC Member audience.
