CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: TRAINING OF TRAINERS (TOTS)

LOCATION: UGANDA
The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is a membership-based organization registered in Kenya with country offices in Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Malawi, DR. Congo and Zambia. We are inviting qualified ToTs to participate in a capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of export-oriented staple food value chains in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. This opportunity is part of the project named, “Strengthening Competitiveness in Export-Oriented Staple Food Value Chains in East Africa”. The project focuses on improving the capacity of smallholder farmers to aggregate and market grain, reduce post-harvest losses, access finance, and establish structured trade relationships.

Scope of Work
Selected persons will first undergo a ToT training and thereafter will be expected to conduct training for smallholder farmer organizations (G-HUBs) and grain business hubs in the following areas:

  • Organizational Development
  • Business Management
  • Good Agricultural Practices (incorporating climate adaptation)
  • Post-harvest Management
  • Grain Marketing

  • Deliverables and Expectations
    The Trainer is expected to deliver the following:
  • Support the mobilization of G-hub members.
  • Identify suitable training venues with EAGC field officers.
  • Deliver comprehensive training, including theory and practical applications.
  • Ensure that course content is accurate and up to date.
  • Submit attendance forms, photo evidence, and a summary report of each training.
  • Qualifications
    The Trainer is expected to possess:
  • Be resident of the region within which the farmers training will occur.
  • A certification in reference to the specific training courses from reputable Technical
    Training Institute, College or University.
  • Practical hands-on experience in training adult (men and women) and youth learners in the
    relevant field of specialization.
  • Previous EAGC-GBI trained alumni will have an added advantage.
  • A track record of undertaking similar activities is required, especially the practical aspects.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

Facilitation
EAGC shall provide a stipend as per the project policy.
