EAGC joins partners in the launch of AI-enabled Data for Agriculture Products and Transformation (ADAPT-Kenya) initiative

Nairobi, Kenya, 5 June 2026

EAGC joined partners at the launch of the AI-enabled Data for Agriculture Products and Transformation (ADAPT-Kenya) Initiative, a government-led partnership that will leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI), Earth Observation, and advanced data analytics to strengthen agricultural decision-making, climate resilience, and food security.
The initiative addresses a critical challenge facing Kenya’s agricultural sector the lack of timely, reliable, and standardized agricultural data. These information gaps affect the entire grain value chain, limiting farmers’ production decisions, traders’ market planning, processors’ supply forecasting, and the ability of financiers and policymakers to make informed decisions.

Speaking on behalf of EAGC, Ms Jacinta Mwau, Head of Programs noted that ADAPT-Kenya complements EAGC Regional Agricultural Trade Intelligence Network (RATIN), which provides market prices, trade flows, warehouse stock data, co produced weather information, and market intelligence across Eastern Africa. The platform will deliver more accurate and predictive information for production planning, market development, and risk management.

Through the network of Grain Trade Business Hubs (GHuBs) across Kenya, EAGC will support farmer engagement and provide field-level validation (ground-truthing) of AI-generated insights, crop maps, and yield forecasts, ensuring that the data reflects realities on the ground and delivers practical value to farmers and agribusinesses.

The initiative is implemented through a broad coalition of government, research, development, and EAGC among other private sector partners under the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD)
