The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC), through the EAGC Grain Business Institute (GBI), is today kicking off a three-day Regional Training on International Structured Commodity Trade Finance in Zanzibar, Tanzania.
The training is building practical skills in structured grain trade and commodity financing, including trade finance options, warehouse and inventory financing, trade documentation, banking and payment procedures, risk management, ESG and sustainable trade finance, insurance and market information for trade finance.
Participants will apply this knowledge to real trade situations, understanding financing opportunities and risks, structuring financing proposals, managing risks and supporting the movement of grain across regional and international markets. The programme also includes case studies, group work and a practical field visit to Fumba Ports to connect learning with actual grain handling, warehousing, trading and logistics processes.
As access to trade finance remains a challenge for many grain businesses, the training aims to strengthen participants’ ability to design, access and implement appropriate financing solutions that can support more efficient and competitive grain trade.
Wishing all our trainees a productive three days of learning, practical exchange and new connections. We look forward to seeing the knowledge gained put into practice across the grain sector.
