Uganda–Kenya Exchange Mission | Strengthening Regional Grain Trade and Business Linkages

A section of Ugandan G-Hubs and SMEs concluded a five-day exchange and peer-to-peer learning mission in Kenya, under the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) Strategic Partnership Agreement with DI-East Africa.

The mission provided participating enterprises with an opportunity to learn from Kenyan G-Hubs and SMEs’ practices in milling, grain quality testing, aflatoxin prevention, collective aggregation and marketing, and warehouse receipting. The exchanges offered practical insights to inform improvements in their businesses in Uganda.

As part of the programme, delegates visited the EAGC Western Region Agribusiness Expo to explore improved grain varieties, Good Agronomic Practices and technologies that support agricultural productivity.

The mission also featured a Kenya–Uganda Cross-Border Policy Engagement Forum, where stakeholders discussed the proposed transition from a One-Stop Border Post (OSBP) to a No-Stop Border Post (NSBP), building on recommendations from the June 2026 exchange visit by Kenyan delegates.

Business-to-Business (B2B) engagements further enabled participating enterprises to establish market connections for grains, grain products and quality assurance equipment.

Through these exchanges, EAGC continues to promote regional cooperation, strengthen market linkages and advance practical solutions for efficient, structured, inclusive and profitable grain trade across Eastern Africa.
